Owner and musician Ron Nodder wanted shirts with a bit of attitude and a very non-traditional approach to the design. Not your traditional winery t-shirt…

Chris and Patty Connelly of Les Deux Chats Cellars recently contracted Design 7 Studio to create the branding and wine label design for their new premiere releases of their Cabernet Sauvignon and Roussanne wines.

Desiring a clean, high-contrasting, and sophisticated label, the client requested that the focal point of the wine label be the basis for their name – “Two Cats” in English.

After creating a series of hand-drawn illustrations and exploring various type treatments for the name, the client settled on their favorite and it was placed against an off-white background with an antique-like border.

Below is the result: A continuous line-art drawing, with a cubist influence, and a very flowing script type treatment…

Design 7 Studio was awarded and recently completed the book cover design project for “Somewhere Out There” by author Janet Van Rensburg. The book deals with depression and a search for hope.

The following is a book synopsis as taken from the back cover:

Living a seemingly charmed life, the protagonist of the story is in turmoil. Reeling from yet another job loss, the death of her fiancé, and a crushing loneliness, she finds herself confused about her true purpose in life and critical of the choices she has made for almost two decades. She flees one depressing situation for another and encounters hostility and disappointment. Forced to face her fears and some uncomfortable truths, she reinvents herself and embarks on a new journey of truth and discovery.

The cover’s dark tones with splashes of blues and greens help to convey the depressive state that the protagonist is constantly looking inward towards, all-the-while the hope and optimism she searches for is present but not from her vantage point.

Design 7 Studio was recently contracted by Robert Dillman from Tampa, Florida, to develop a logo for his new start-up venture. Graditude is a new social or community network that connects financial benefactors with collegiate students with a lot of potential that may not have the means to attend college.

For this logo, the concept of a classic Roman column helps to convey the foundation and stability that comes from the financial support as well as the prestige that was needed for this brand. The tassel and grad cap on top of the column helps fuse the two elements and give this brand a very memorable and unique mark.

The focus is to present “The Survivor” as a fundraising event that celebrates individual perseverance over cancer and heart disease. The golf event is 100 holes played in one day by teams of 2 players. The participants are going to be “Survivors” of the grueling event (100 holes in less than 10 hours) and they are actively supporting and raising funds for Survivors of cancer and heart disease.

The event logo therefore needed embody the spirit of both cancer battle and heart disease, while conveying the sport of golf.

Design 7 Studio was recently asked by a Florida-based company called Track The Trail to design a debut t-shirt for their upcoming line of t-shirts geared towards triathletes. Track The Trail basically sells GPS systems for use by triathletes, marathon runners, and endurance athletes when they are out on the road or trail. The GPS systems can be used either by them or their families as many times runners can be out training for hours on end.

This initial design was to be created only using 2 spot colors and is going to be printed on both black and white garments.

The client wanted a very modern, distressed look to the print… a very different approach to most athletic t-shirts that tend to stay true to very clean and bold print graphics. This premiere design in the series is to highlight lifestyle words that athletes would gravitate towards and want to wear as part of their street wardrobe.
