Design 7 Studio was recently contracted by Robert Dillman from Tampa, Florida,  to develop a logo for his new start-up venture.  Graditude is a new social or community network that connects financial benefactors with collegiate students with a lot of potential that may not have the means to attend college. For this logo, the concept of a classic Roman column helps to convey the foundation and stability that comes from the financial support as well as the prestige that was needed.. || Continue Reading →

As a graphic designer, I love seeing package design or logos  for products evolve over time. Recently, Sprite received yet another facelift, and I think for the better. The can of “limone” has recently gotten an upgrade to not only its overall can graphics, but the logotype and the graphic for the lemon-lime fusion. What I find refreshing (sorry for any puns) about this is the use of the lime and lemon to create an “S” within the graphic out of its negative.. || Continue Reading →

While I love promoting my own work, I also like to pass on to others what inspires me as a designer, and that includes exalting the great work of others that I come across. I found this logo on a designer’s gallery site and instantly loved it.  The simplicity, which is so crucial in logo design, is found in not only the rendering, but in the creative solution of utilizing the positive and negative space of the two bottles.  Add the clever use of orange triangles and you.. || Continue Reading →

One of the things I love about designing logos is the ability to take an existing logo and give it an extreme home-makeover. To find the areas where the logo is falling short of its objectives and then finding ways to better showcase or visually communicate what that company is all about. I love the process, I love doing it, and I also love seeing how others do it. When recently shopping for a new knife sharpener, I happened upon Chicago Cutlery. I was immediately taken back.. || Continue Reading →

Here is an award winning logo was created for the Masa Institute by Imaginaria Creative – a Texas-based design firm. The Masa Institute is an experimental gourmet research lab dedicated to creating new ideas for the use of corn flour. The simplicity and bold line-work of this logo is why I just LOVE it! Great job guys…

As you saw from my previous post, I entered 5 entries into Veer’s contest of having to re-create their logo without using a computer (no digital manipulation). The winner turned out to be J.D. Busche from Texas and in my opinion blew the competition out of the water. His entry outshined in creativity that of my entries and the other 1,000+ entries in this national competition. Below is the winning photo… Now if you are still thinking, what is the big deal, or what.. || Continue Reading →

If you didn’t know, Veer is a website for graphic designers that sells digital fonts, stock images, designer-centric merchandise, as well as a couple blog sites tailored to the design community. Recently, they ran a contest where a non-digitally enhanced photo was to be entered that re-created their logo. The entry could be sculpted, created, manufactured, whatever…. Just not created or composited using the computer. The grand prize was about a new MacBook Pro, CS4.. || Continue Reading →

I am not sure why this flew under my radar last year, but when NASA hit is golden anniversary, it contracted with Crabtree + Company, a Virginia marketing agency, to develop and design their commemorative logo and materials. Having designed a few anniversary logos myself, I really appreciated their fresh approach to designing the “50″ in such a way as to incorporate the Hubble Space Telescope image of the “grand design” spiral galaxy M81 located 11.6 million light.. || Continue Reading →

Movies and logos… what could be better. I came across this post on Neatorama and thought I would share it. Paramount Pictures Corporation was founded in 1912 as Famous Players Film Company by Adolph Zukor, and the theater moguls the Frohman brothers, Daniel and Charles. The Paramount “Majestic Mountain” logo was first drawn as a doodle by W.W. Hodkinson during a meeting with Zukor, based on the Ben Lomond Mountain from his childhood in Utah (the live action logo.. || Continue Reading →
