The Good, the Bad & The UGLY: RV Graphics

August 30th, 2010

For a long time now I have had a beef and it is now time to share it.  It is an age old question that has plagued mankind since the dawn of the automobile:  Why can’t someone with decent graphic design skills be used to design the worthless graphics on the sides of the RV vehicle? I have spent countless moments of head-shaking and wincing while on the highways when I pass RV’s of all makes and models, only to be staring at badly executed attempts at “cool”.. || Continue Reading →

Dad Life

The brilliant minds and talents over at Church On The Move out in Tulsa came up with a fantastically hilarious music video tribute for Father’s Day. What’s scary is that there is a lot of gray areas in this video as to how much of it is true.  Have I really gotten that old?  That I would trade up my young renegade lifestyle for a life of devoted to family and common sense?  Heck YES and I would do it all over again.  My family is worth it.  But this is still great.. || Continue Reading →

Dodgers’ Dynomite 70’s Poster

June 5th, 2010

If you were one of the first 20,000 to enter Dodger Stadium yesterday, June 4th 2010, as they celebrated the 70’s, you would have been handed a limited edition “Dyn-o-mite” poster.  The retro-looking, Starsky and Hutch-inspired poster featured Dodger first-baseman James Loney and third-baseman Casey Blake.  Dodgers’ team photographer Jon SooHoo managed the photoshoot of the two as they hammed it up for the lens.  I love the fact that this poster is made.. || Continue Reading →

The Art of Facial Hair: Matt Rainwater’s Beardfolio

March 1st, 2010

Let me clarify.  I am all about facial hair.  While I have been known to wear a pretty consistant soul patch for the last 5 or 6 years, I have always strayed from the beard or mustache. Not because I am one of those guys that can’t accomplish these manly items, but I choose not to because I have a higher calling in life:  to receive an abundance of love and kisses from my beautiful wife, who rightfully so, would rather not get lost in a face-ful of hair to get to my supple.. || Continue Reading →

Rebelling Against the Page-fold

January 28th, 2010

There is a now common web-term referred to the “page fold”. This is the line on a web-page where the typical browser window cuts off the content at the bottom. When designing elements or content that you want to be prominent to the viewer, it is referred to as desiring it to be “above the page fold”. What is funny is that we are a people that have come to ignore the page fold. We are so used to scrolling that it has become second nature. We scroll through.. || Continue Reading →

How to Properly Worship

Those of us that are Christians know that one of the great blessings that God bestowed on us is the gift of laughter.  Being able to laugh at ourselves and cliches in the world help us not take life too seriously. So along comes a video produced by the good folks at Fairwood Assembly of God Church in Renton, Washington. This video was shown at our high school youth group the other night and we all got some belly laughs.  I not sure what is funnier… what the video has.. || Continue Reading →

Designer Ryan Perkins’ Disclaimer

November 25th, 2009

thumb

I belong to a freelance project community website called CrowdSpring where other graphic designers like myself have profile pages, submit design ideas for “open” projects where a monetary amount will be awarded to the best design after a certain period of time. Along with the submission is a place to post your description of your entry. That’s where graphic designer Ryan Perkins lifts the bar on creativity. I recently came across one of his entries and noticed.. || Continue Reading →

I know, I know… this is so wrong, but this was too hilarious to pass on when it was forwarded to me from a friend. Confucious say, “If you can’t find the book you’re looking for, you’re probably in the…”

Twitter: I Just Don’t Get It

June 10th, 2009

Okay, I need to get something off of my chest.  Here goes: I don’t get Twitter. I don’t get tweeting and I certainly don’t understand people that do twitter. There, I have said it.  Now I have a Facebook account and check it at least once a day.  There I can get caught up with friends and family, and particularly with the status, I can gain a bit of insight into how their day went or what was the most important comment of the day from them. But even in the.. || Continue Reading →

Parody: The Astounding World of the Future

Parody: The Astounding World of the Future

Never has the year 2000 looked so futuristic. A funny mid-20th century newsreel featuring amazingly accurate predictions of the year 2000. This video won BEST SHORT FILM – New York Comedy Film Festival and will give you a good chuckle or two. I love the narration and choice of backtrack music. Definitely a throw back to films of the 50’s and 60′… Enjoy!
