It has already been a crazy and busy New Year, so I am just now getting down to getting a new entry posted up here. Today’s showcasing is something rather unique in my book. How do you envision a new, creative way of inviting people to your upcoming wedding. Usually wedding invites are elegant forms of paper, perhaps embossings, and are fairly minimalistic in their design approach. You say the date, the time, the location and the RSVP info. What if you wanted to give.. || Continue Reading →

In keeping in line with deep, wise snippets of truths as previously offered by the likes of Proverbs, Confusious and “Deep Thoughts” by Jack Handley, I wanted to pass along a few I picked up recently. So take a deep drink from your mug, sit back and be prepared to ponder and enjoy! I totally take back all of those times I didn’t want to nap when I was younger Was learning cursive really necessary? Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5... || Continue Reading →
I can’t remember where I first came across his illustrations, but there was something both charming and disturbing about his style of imagery, his lifework, and his subject matter that I found both intriguing and inspiring. I am talking about the new, up-and-coming illustrator out of Berlin, Germany: 21 year-old Niklas Coskan. Also know as the Dee Dee Kid, this youngster is proving himself a force to be reckoned with. From his fabulous use of thick-and-thin ink lines,.. || Continue Reading →

Ismet Dural owns a circumcision clinic in Istanbul and in order to spread his contact details in his local area, an economical solution was needed. So the creative folks over at Healthy People by Grey design and create a poster for him that had perforated tabs. This brilliantly creative solution is simple in execution, tastefully done, and allows the consumer to participate in the idea by removing one of the tabs to keep his contact information, while ummm… circumcising the.. || Continue Reading →

While the world is still in shock at the loss of Steve Jobs, it dawned on me why many of us are not just treating this as the unexpected death of another celebrity or rockstar. While the world watched as his health continued to decline as he fought against his cancer and though he passed away at the age of 56, his death still comes to us as being premature. How much more could the global society have benefited if he lived and continued to innovate the world for another twenty.. || Continue Reading →

I guess if you are a in the field of computer animation, the name “Big Buck Bunny” would mean something to you. For those of us NOT in the field, however, this may or may not be familiar with you. However, for those of us to have ever enjoyed the creative and talented brilliance of the team of PIXAR, you will undoubtedly appreciate this. Don’t get me wrong, the animated short film Big Buck Bunny has nothing to do with Pixar. It actually has to do with Blender,.. || Continue Reading →

With the upcoming release of the highly anticipated PS3 game Batman: Arkham City and the media frenzy surrounding the current production of next year’s summer blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises, I wanted to take a moment to pay homage to my favorite superhero and remind everyone why he is the best: 1. He’s The Everyday Hero Put aside the fact of Bruce Wayne’s wealth, under the costume, he is still just a city’s citizen that is tired of allowing corruption,.. || Continue Reading →

Yes, I am a Star Wars Geek. Though I have never attended a SW Convention, I did see the original in the movie theatres a total of 11 times when I was 9 years old. Heck if George Lucas wised up and really cash in, he would make a Star Wars Land theme park for which I would make an annual pilgrimage to for sure. I am also a lover of vintage travel posters. Their simplistic use of flat color that really due upon their lithographic production processes and had all of the characteristics.. || Continue Reading →
In looking back at the year of 1992, I have but one thing to say: Where the heck did all of the good posters go?” It’s as if all of the great graphic designers went on strike during this year, because I only found FOUR that I found to worthy of showcasing for their good use of layout, color, negative space, or typography. Don’t get me wrong, there were tons of movies hitting the theaters, but the posters that advertised them just were of the average garden-variety.. || Continue Reading →

Having some advertising industry background under my belt, I have spent many an hour in brain-storming sessions pouring over possible headlines and ad concepts. There is a point in those meetings when some of the ideas being put out there need to go right into trash… rightfully so. So when I came across this vintage, 1950′s ad for sausage by Le Cochon Prodigue, my one and only thought was: What the heck were they thinking?!” There is something deeply disturbing.. || Continue Reading →
