Studio AKA: BBC Winter Olympics Commercial

February 4th, 2010

I recently came across a blog entry from designer Jon Klassen about his collaboration with Studio AKA on their Winter Olympics ad for the BBC. What makes this ad truly remarkable and stand out is the approach.  Wonderfully dark and dangerous animation fills the screen in stark comparison to the usual colorful flare used to advertise the Olympic games.  The musical score, the storyboard, and the animation style all lend to give a strong marketing plug that takes a different.. || Continue Reading →

Those of us that are Christians know that one of the great blessings that God bestowed on us is the gift of laughter.  Being able to laugh at ourselves and cliches in the world help us not take life too seriously. So along comes a video produced by the good folks at Fairwood Assembly of God Church in Renton, Washington. This video was shown at our high school youth group the other night and we all got some belly laughs.  I not sure what is funnier… what the video has.. || Continue Reading →

Albert Einstein: Does God Exist?

I am not sure of as to the original creator and it is foreign with subtitles, but this video appears to be an advertisement for bringing religion back into our public schools. While being a very controversial subject in itself, I thought that the content of the ad was very thought provoking. Very insightful and I can’t believe it was all directly quoted by Albert Einstein himself. As the video states at the end, “Religion is Knowledge too.”

Okay, I need to get something off of my chest.  Here goes: I don’t get Twitter. I don’t get tweeting and I certainly don’t understand people that do twitter. There, I have said it.  Now I have a Facebook account and check it at least once a day.  There I can get caught up with friends and family, and particularly with the status, I can gain a bit of insight into how their day went or what was the most important comment of the day from them. But even in the.. || Continue Reading →

Parody: The Astounding World of the Future

Never has the year 2000 looked so futuristic. A funny mid-20th century newsreel featuring amazingly accurate predictions of the year 2000. This video won BEST SHORT FILM – New York Comedy Film Festival and will give you a good chuckle or two. I love the narration and choice of backtrack music. Definitely a throw back to films of the 50’s and 60′… Enjoy!

Video: The Font Conference

October 30th, 2008

If you are a true graphic designer, than you will undoubtedly have a love for the art of typography. This means that you will naturally dislike the use of standard system fonts. Why? Because they so overused and chosen for the wrong occasion – usually by either novices or anyone thinking they are a designer, but who isn’t. Like em or not, they are a basic part of all of our type libraries. For anyone who likes fonts, then you will LOVE this short parody video.. || Continue Reading →

Movie Poster Design: Floating Heads

October 29th, 2008

One of my loves is movie poster design. I collect digital copies of movie posters over the years as a bit of a hobby. If I owned a 27-bedroom house, I would most likely physically collect and showcase my love for well designed movie posters. But alas, I do not, so I don’t. That being said, this little documentary was passed to me by a designer friend who knows I love movie posters. In turn, I had to share. So sit back, and enjoy, this truly special art of “the.. || Continue Reading →
