Inspiring Gig Posters by Mike Harpin

One of the regrets I have about NOT living in a dense urban area is having a ton of chic urban clubs where indy bands play.  This stems from my love of cool, creative gig posters that are slapped upon a wall somewhere to showcase or announce what band is playing where.  They are excuse as a designer to cut loose, go crazy, and dream big.

So my envy bar rose to obscene levels when I came across some of the design work by a Indianapolis designer and Art Director Mike Harpin, who goes by the name of Cre8ivemike.   And judging from his Flicker account what he showcases is brilliant.  His style ranges from vintage, distresses works of art to a real handle on edgy, uber-modern treatments.  But all of his posters are handled with the utmost concern for details and execution.  From perfect color palette choices, to subtle textural treatments and a command of typography.

So whether he is promoting The Burning Hotels, Red Monroe, Odis or Throw Me The Statue, the inspiring work just keeps coming out.  Keep it up Mike!
