The Ultimate Cheese Burger

I came across an amazing Flash-based website that pays tribute to the quest for the ultimate cheese burger.  Cheese & Burger is a website that does nothing but dish up 30, yes THIRTY, different recipes for cheese burgers.  We are talking using a variety of beef, a tons of different types of cheeses, different types of buns, and condiments to boot.  This site has some great and quirky voice-overs, a terrific interactive flip-type booklet format and is just plan fun to engage.. || Continue Reading →

Design 7 Studio was recently awarded the job of designing some t-shirts for Paco’s Tacos & Tequila, a new Tex-Mex restaurant opening up in Charlotte, North Carolina later this summer.  The shirts are to be primarily worn by their servers, with patron sales to follow, and needed to capture the fun, festive, and flare they desired for the tone of the restaurant/bar.  The client, FS Food Group, wanted some designs that were unique, memorable, with a splash of humor. Time to give a shout out to another graphic designer out there. In this case, my kudos go to Austin, TX-based designer, Karl Hebert. I first stumbled upon his work when I came across the business cards for Pattern Productions, an Austin-based television production company.  He created this while being on staff with Spoonbend. What was nice about this logo and identity project was that the client had zero pre-conceived ideas for their logo.  They just liked the name “Pattern”. .. || Continue Reading →

From the creative imagination of I Love Dust, a design firm from the UK, comes a fantastic bottle label design for a UK-based cider company, Hearts Cider Makers. I love the complexity, yet simple muted hues being used. Very non-traditional and inventive.  Great job!

Just because there is a great movie, doesn’t necessarily mean that it will have a great nicely designed poster to advertise it.  The year 1976 was full of some great movies like A Star is Born, Taxi Driver, Rocky, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Marathon Man and All The President’s Men.  However, it is the following seven movies whose posters I felt were doing something different in graphic design to make them stand out from the bunch. The Omen (1976) Ahhh yes.  The little.. || Continue Reading →

While this poster is over 3 years old, I just now came across it and instantly loved it. Most band or “gig” posters can be rather lack-luster, but there can be some incredible freedom in design when designing a one-time event advertisement poster for a band. This particular poster promoted the band Animal Collective with opener Sir Richard Bishop at the Bottletree in Birmingham, Alablama back in 2007.  I love zoo animals in technicolor! Very inspirational!

If you were one of the first 20,000 to enter Dodger Stadium yesterday, June 4th 2010, as they celebrated the 70′s, you would have been handed a limited edition “Dyn-o-mite” poster.  The retro-looking, Starsky and Hutch-inspired poster featured Dodger first-baseman James Loney and third-baseman Casey Blake.  Dodgers’ team photographer Jon SooHoo managed the photoshoot of the two as they hammed it up for the lens.  I love the fact that this poster is made.. || Continue Reading →

The Year 1975, for me, produced 7 posters that I felt stood out at the cinemas that regards to movie poster design.  Here is the list as I see it… Jaws (1975) Of course I had to start off the list with this monumental cinematic movie.  This movie not only scared the pants off of movie-goers, but its poster has become an icon in movie posters.  The symmetry, the proportion of the two elements really help you fear going back into the water… as if the movie itself didn’t.. || Continue Reading →
