If you have ever come across the term “mashup” it refers to the DJ trend that has come around in the last few years. It is the musical art of taking two or three songs and mixing them together (or “mashing” them together). The result is a new song that can be considered a fantastic remix of an old one. Just google “mashups” and you will find a slew of links to various indie DJ’s website where you can download these tracks.
A new art form is now emerging in the form of album cover mashups. The real pioneer is mashup DJ Christian Marclay and in my opinion it has got to be a harder task to visually compose various and obscure album artwork together to form a new picture. I guess it could only come from a DJ who has the most epic vinyl album collection to be able to pull from such a diverse library in order to come up with some of the works below… Impressive Christian, most impressive!
